Matt is a fourth generation farmer from western Missouri. Matt's was raised on his family's dairy farm. He and his family now produce corn, soybeans, forage and Angus beef cattle. Matt also operates an Agritourism business featuring a pumpkin patch, sunflower festival, and other small events both public and private on his farm. Matt's farm hosts a farm-based Preschool August-May and summer camps in June & July. The farm school experience exposes young children along with their families to the real backbone of agriculture, helping them connect with the beauty of their food source and the people that provide it. Matt understands what a long hard days work in the blazing sun or blowing snow is really all about, and he's happy to share his story.
Matt's passion to produce a safe, sustainable food source and to break the stigma that ag has been labeled with lately is at the heart of what he does. Matt's desire to educate and share his story ranges from hosting field trips for local school kids, talking at meetings and conferences, to traveling the country to be a voice for agriculture. Breaking the stigma isn't about red vs blue or family farms vs. corporate agriculture, it's about educating our neighbors and our lawmakers to protect our food source and it's providers for the next generation.
Matt is currently one of ten chosen in the country to participate in American Farm Bureau's PAL (Partners in Advocacy Leadership) training program. PAL's mission is to create outstanding advocates for agriculture.
